On Tuesday 24th October, Stephen and Claire attended AidEx 2012 at Brussels Expo. It was great to see all the ingenious products and wonderful work that other organisations are undertaking.

We spoke to representatives from Medicines Sans Frontiers about their use previous of regular pillboxes, as well as suppliers to clinics in Sub Saharan Africa, pharmaceutical export companies, DFID, the business development director at UK Trade & Investment and many other interesting individuals about the MedAlert project.

We were delighted and encouraged by the overwhelmingly positive response that the concept generated, and have received some excellent advice for the next stages of product development as well as some valuable contacts.Claire showing a sample product to a Missionpharma representative

This years’ Aid Innovation Challenge competition had some great entries, including a folding tap stand, a water filter bag, and a tiny solar-powered LED light.

Congratulations to Sunlite, whose Portable Solar Led Lantern was named the winning design.

AIDEX

Aidex LogoOn Wednesday 24th October, two of our trustees, Stephen and Claire, will be travelling to Brussels to attend this year’s AidEx conference.

It was at this event last year that the MedAlert project was awarded a generous grant as the prize for winning the Innovation Challenge.

We are looking forward to meeting those people responsible for making the birth of this charity possible, as well as seeing what great ideas this year’s competetants have in store.

We also plan to take the opportunity to gain contacts and advice from people with much experience in the field of aid distribution.
